Why the day matters

People rarely come to us because they want to. They come because a hospital wants an admission deposit, or a college has set a last date for fees, or a crop payment did not arrive when it should have. In those situations, money in three weeks is not much use.

Once the figure is agreed and the paperwork is signed, we settle the same day. By cash if you want cash, or straight into your bank account if you would rather.

Two things to protect yourself

First, never pay an advance. Nobody in this trade legitimately asks you for money before giving you money. If someone asks you for a fee to “process” or “release” your gold, that is the moment to leave.

Second, take the receipt. It should show the weight, the purity reading, the rate applied and the amount paid. That piece of paper is your protection, and any firm reluctant to give it to you is telling you something important about itself.

The advice we give most often

Work out what you actually need before you decide how much gold to release. People often bring everything they own when the fee they need to cover is a fraction of it. Release what covers the need and keep the rest — you can always come back.
